Rita Gibes Grossman organized Boxborough Birders in 2004 at the suggestion of Norm Hanover of the Boxborough Conservation Commission. She was most interested in identifying local species and hoped to find others who shared her passion for birds.
After establishing the group, and organizing and leading many walks herself, Rita scheduled the first formal Steering Committee meeting of Boxborough Birders in early 2012 to expand leadership and strengthen and grow the group. A core group of experienced birders now regularly plan and lead walks and report their sightings. Peter Norton designed the Boxborough Birders website in 2013. This is an all-volunteer effort.
